And so it ends. 6 years of life in SJIMB. 6 golden years. thoughts for renaissance:
Friday: quote from Lester Lim, my music director and mentor, "public rehearsal" haha.. so true.. 'nuff said..
Saturday: the main band was great.. they did better than i expected.. and as for my juniors in the clarinet section especially, they improved tremendously over the last year. i am so proud of them. my bro did well too.. wasted he spent so much time with the sec 1s or he could have been really nuts and quash any pride in jonathan. oh well he did good still.. luke was really funny with his wig... and mr tan tian pee.. wow his trombone skills are really good. tts really how a trombone should be... wow. i never heard a trombone like that before.. haha.. and my son paul, ah. so cute. its really touching that as i officially stop using the Eb clarinet, he learnt it and used it for renaissance.. so sweet. Paul you did good too... have more confidence.. really that ninja turtle may be technically stronger, but experience really helps. trust me.
the alumni band: guys thanks for all the fun we had together.. the shit we went through as bandsmen and then as alumni.. its been great working with you all and i really enjoyed the time we had during practices.. prolly may not play with you all again.. unless we all end up in central band.. heh. nevertheless we did good.. GOOD. haha, guess now if I die I can meet my gramps in heaven and face him with a little pride. I will get better. I promise. anyway guys keep on rocking where ever you are. I love the alumni. we rock socks! anyway it was really cool with all the things we gave lester.. and the brass parts which we received.. gave them back in sec 4 and got them back in j2.. lol.. and mouse loves big mouse.
personally, i felt i did ok.. it was a performance that i can be proud of. i did my best, and played with my heart. and of course i managed to scrape through my solo.. lol.. i hope it was entertaining guys...
to Lester: doubt you will read this. but if you happen to stumble across this. thanks for everything. thanks for being our "baby sitter" after school and changing our lives by enriching it with music. yup. after my gramps and my ah pek, u were the next to mentor me in music. thank you for making so enjoyable and exciting, and for making me go crazy over band music. i now appreciate the subtler nuances to band pieces.. heh.. its been great playing under your baton or should i say hand. alas, all good things must come to an end. so heres to the future. all the best in your future endeavors! *salutes*
to all who supported the sjimb in one way all another. i thank you from the bottom of my heart. thanks =)
